Most sea turtles are carnivorous, and the animals that make up their food are crustaceans, amphibians, and fish. They can use different feeding areas in each growing state.
Hatching occurs at night, when the eggs are usually in a position of relative depth in the sand, so that the chicks, which have a synchronized hatch, collaborate to reach the surface.
They instinctively go to the ocean, and it is from there that they begin a long sea voyage, which can last even decades until they return to the shore as young turtles.

Adults of most species can be found in surface and coastal waters, bays, lagoons, and estuaries, with some adventuring to the open sea.

The growth rate of sea turtles is very variable. They generally take a long time to reach maturity and are believed to have a relatively long breeding period, perhaps as long as 75 to 100 years.
