Godzilla or Gojira (in Japanese) was born in 1954 with the release of the famous movie (Godzilla, Japan under the terror of the monster). 

The creators were Tōhō Studios, and it is said that they created the character after the dropping of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs to represent the fear that Japanese society suffered after World War II.

The name Gojira comes from the union of two words, gorira (ゴリラ), a gorilla in English, and kujira (鯨, くじら), which means whale. One can think that the famous critter is a cross between a gorilla and a whale.

The films fall under a Japanese genre called Kaiju (怪獣 ), which means strange or giant beast. Its westernized translation would be a monster.

In the Japanese Kaiju filmography, there are a variety of monsters, such as Mothra, Anguirus, Rodan, Gamera, and King Ghidorah. Still, the famous monster is the best known inside and outside Japan.

His appearance is that of a creature with rough gray skin and a long tail, with which he also destroyed buildings at will. 

Its dorsal plates glow when it is about to spew fire from its mouth. In short, a strange hybrid between different dinosaurs: tyrannosaurus, stegosaurus, sauropod, and iguanodont.

A monster born in 1954; that year, Ishiro Honda, the most influential director of the genre, directed Toho Japan under the terror of the monster, which inaugurated the genre known as kaiju-eiga (giant monsters). The central theme is nuclear terror.
