Joker is one of the most notorious criminals in Gotham City, being thus the main enemy of Batman. He was introduced in the first issue of Batman’s comic book in April 1940, published by DC Comics.

A psychopathic personality with sadistic and twisted humor. This has led him to be cataloged as the antithesis of Batman.

At one stage, he maintained the role of a simple Joker. Since the 1970s, Joker has held his sinister origins and has been involved in certain decisive moments of Batman.

A disfigured face, white skin, dyed green hair, and red lips characterize his physical appearance. He comes from the effects of the criminal’s accidental fall into a container of chemicals.

He usually resorts to his ingenuity to develop weapons and lethal devices since he lacks superhuman abilities to carry out his crimes.

He can use razor decks, surprise boxes, cigarette-shaped explosives, and acid-spraying objects. He has collaborated with other Gotham City supervillains such as Riddler, Penguin, Killer Croc, Two-Face, and The Scarecrow.

The Injustice Gang and the Injustice League have also collaborated with him. From the 1990s onwards, he introduced his ally and romantic liaison, Harley Quinn, although his primary obsession was Batman.

At first, it was explained that he was a ruthless serial killer whose physical appearance was inspired by a joker with a sinister smile and who killed his victims with “Joker poison”, a toxin that disfigured their faces with a grotesque grin.

He also used to leave playing cards at the scene of the crime. Joker needs a definitive version of his origins and has undergone several changes since his first appearance in the 1940s.

His explanations range from child abuse by his father to the incarnation of a jester who served a pharaoh.
